Microwave cooking
Granicium
ceramic saves energy when cooking in the microwave. Microwave radiation
heats up Granicium, unlike porcelain, glass or plastic, and the radiant
heat also helps with cooking. Steam trapped under the cover cooks the
vegetables from the outside. Cooking is quick and gentle.
Oven cooking
Add
a small amount of water before cooking in the oven (fan-assisted). Hot
steam forms under the cover. The ceramic also stores heat and this
radiant heat helps to cook the vegetables. You only need to heat up a
small quantity of water compared with cooking vegetables in a pan, which
saves energy and time.
Benefits
- When you cook with Veggymat, all water-soluble vitamins and trace elements remain in the vegetables so you can enjoy their unadulterated flavour.
- Unlike a pressure cooker, dangerous excess pressure doesn’t build up in Veggymat. Surface impurities are also not forced inside the vegetables.
- Cooking vegetables in Veggymat saves a lot of energy compared with traditional cooking.
- Veggymat does not transfer any unwanted plasticizers into your food.
- The lid can be used as a serving dish when you are finished cooking. The granite ceramic’s high heat-storage capacity keeps vegetables warm on the table for a long time.
Cleaning
Veggymat is easy to wash by hand or in the dishwasher.
Fabian Denk - My Experiences
I’ve
always found preparing vegetables to be a dilemma. If you cook them in a
pan they lose flavour and crucial ingredients, while direct microwave
radiation makes vegetables mushy. And heating up the oven for a few
potatoes or a little broccoli uses far too much electricity.
Veggymat
is a quick, healthy and energy-saving way to cook vegetables. It works
with a combination of shape and material, with no additional technology.
Even the patent examiners were impressed and granted our patent just a
few months after submission. If flavour had been a criteria, we would
probably have been celebrating our patent after just four weeks.

Veggymat, instructions
Granicium is characterised by the properties of its raw material, granite. The high quartz and feldspar content makes this ceramic particularly robust and durable.
